To our Rebound Families community,
It is with heavy hearts that we share an important and difficult decision. After a period of discernment, discussion, and prayerful consideration, the Board of Directors has decided to close Rebound Families.
This decision has not been made lightly. Rebound began in 1996 as a ministry of Cornwall Church, and since then has worked to connect, empower, and restore vulnerable families in Whatcom County. Through programs like Roots and Ray of Hope, we have witnessed countless lives impacted and families strengthened. Parents were better equipped to lead their families, children found belonging and community, and staff and volunteers served with purpose. It is impossible to fully encapsulate all that God has done through Rebound over nearly 30 years—and for that, we are forever grateful.
Since the pandemic in 2020, Rebound has faced ongoing financial challenges. For the past five years, we have worked hard to remain afloat and serve our community faithfully. However, we have now come to the point where we no longer see a sustainable path forward to continue our work with excellence. After much prayer and consideration, we recognize that it is time to bring this chapter to a close. Our deepest desire has always been to serve with integrity and effectiveness, and we believe ending well is part of honoring that mission.
We are incredibly grateful to every donor, volunteer, staff member, partner, and family who has supported Rebound throughout the years. Your generosity, time, and belief in this work made everything possible. Though the organization is coming to an end, the impact of your faithfulness lives on in the stories, relationships, and lives that have been changed.
In the coming weeks, the Board will be working to responsibly wind down operations, support the transition of our assets to other local nonprofits with similar missions, and ensure this chapter ends with the same care and stewardship that has defined our work.
Thank you for everything. We would deeply appreciate your continued prayers—both prayers of praise for all God has done, and prayers of support as we close this season.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Board of Directors
Rebound Families
1000+
Families Changed
Even in the closest families, it is sometimes hard to remember that family members may react differently to the same traumatic event.
20+
Years Serving communities
We provide ongoing support, walking alongside these children and families through those times when they need help the most. This is done whenever possible in the context of the local community.
1500+
Hundreds of children Impacted
Not all children experience child-traumatic stress after experiencing a traumatic event, but those who do can recover. With proper support, many children can adapt to and overcome such experiences.
